Dear Parents / Carers

 

Learning this week Nursery children have been learning about the journeys that cars and tractors make everyday.  Reception children have been making Rainforest parrots and snakes using old socks!  Year 1 children have been learning multiplication, addition and subtraction in numeracy.  Children in year 2 spent a lovely day at Longleat Safari Park where they saw the animals and had a ride on a boat.  Year 3 children have been working on their spider sculptures and in PE they have be practicing their tennis forehand. Year 4 children have been adding pronouns to sentences to expand them and in numeracy they have been learning how to ‘round’ numbers.  Children in year 5 have been studying the life cycle of plants and went to the school garden where they planted wild flowers to go in the park.  Year 6 children have been sewing ice cream designs in art lessons.

Sports Day A big thank you and well done to all the children who participated in Years 4, 5 and 6  sports day!  The sun was shining and the event was well attended by parents and carers.

Here are the results:-

Overall joint winners -  1st  Red team and Green team who both scored 115 points (the first year we have had a tie), 2nd  Blue team scored 105 points, 3rd  Yellow team scored 104 points.

All children will be presented with certificates in assembly.  The sprint winners were Year 4 girls Evie, year 4 boys Alvaro, year 5 girls Shaniya, year 5 boys Elijah, year 6 girls Amaris, year 6 boys Xander.  Well done!

Year 1, 2 and 3 sports day will be on Wednesday 6 May at 9:30am in Victoria Park (weather permitting).

 

                          

 

 PTFA News: -  

·  Plant sale in the playground this afternoon, Friday 1st May at 3.30pm. Please come along and pick up a bargain plant or two. Please can all children be accompanied by an adult as the event is not supervised by school staff and is open to the public. 

·  Summer Fair, Sat 20th June.  Thank you so much to everyone who has volunteered to help so far. We are still looking for volunteers to help with organising the fair and on the day. It takes a lot of people to run this event, every bit of help is appreciated. Please e-mail smr_ptfa@hotmail.co.uk

·  Art Day on 24th June. We are still looking for volunteers to help the children produce their art pieces for the Art on the Hill exhibition (October 3rd). We would love to have parents from every year group joining in, you don’t need to be an artist, just willing to get involved. Please e-mail smr_ptfa@hotmail.co.uk if you can help.

Parent Classes We are running free ESOL and Computer Courses for parents in school. There are a few places left. There is also a free creche for pre-school children. ESOL every Wednesday 1.00pm – 3.00pm in the school house. Computers every Thursday 1.00pm - 3.15pm in the school house.  If you are interested please contact the office or just come along to the course.

Admission Arrangements for 2016/2017 The Governing Bodies of St Mary Redcliffe and Temple, Bristol Cathedral Choir School and Cathedral Primary School have determined their admission arrangements for the academic year 2016/2017.  For further details please go to the  website for the relevant school.

 

Reminders

  • Please do not allow your children to kick or pick the flowers in the park.  The flowers are there for everyone to enjoy for as long as possible.
  • Please do not allow your children to climb on the walls at the front of the school.
