Dear Parents / Carers

Learning this week Nursery children have been practising the rhyme ‘I’m a little teapot’ and they have been making their own cups and mugs.  Children in Reception have been making their own red noses with salt dough.  They have also been role playing ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ story.  Children in year 1, along with the rest of Key Stage1 and Early Years, had a visit from a wonderful story teller.  The children have also been learning about inverse operations.  Year 2 children were excited by a visit from the ‘Owl Man’ and his lovely birds.  Children in Year 3 have been designing their own board games.  Year 4 children have started a new topic ‘Through a Railway Carriage’ by exploring the poem.  Children in year 5 have been learning about area and perimeter in numeracy and in literacy they have been reading the poem ‘The Highway Man’.  Year 6 children have been writing their own poems about Red Nose Day and have been learning new rugby skills.

And of course great learning happened at the Maths parents evening, thank you to all those who were able to attend!

PTFA News:

  • Our AGM is this coming Wed (18th March) 6.30pm-7.30pm, in the school hall.  Please do come if you can.  We do have people standing for both vacant committee positions, but we need to have enough people there to vote, otherwise the PTFA can't continue to run.  We will also be showing a film about Playpod (which we are hoping to install in the playground next term) and a Playpod representative will be giving a brief talk and answering questions.  Childcare will be provided.  Please return the reply slips from the letters that were in bookbags yesterday (or email: to give us an idea of numbers for childcare and refreshments.
  • The total raised at the World Book Day Bookstall was a brilliant £185.50! All money raised will go towards PTFA funds for new school equipment and events for the children.  A few teachers and volunteers bought books, but we estimate that at least 350 children went home with a book that was new to them, for only 50p.  We hope that you are all enjoying your new books!
  • The children really enjoyed their World Book Day events.  KS2 attended performances of 'Sammy & The Snow Leopard', by Travelling Light Theatre Company, last Thurs and KS1, Reception & Nursery classes enjoyed fantastic Story Telling from Martin Maudsley yesterday.  Both events were paid for by funds raised from PTFA events.  Thank you everyone! Many thanks, Jo, Alex, Sarah & Katy (PTFA Committee).

Windmill Hill City Farm Wild Outdoors Day Sat 28 March 12.00 - 4.00pm £3 adults/ children free.  Grand opening of their new outdoor kitchen, demonstrations and tastings from local chefs.  More details at
