Dear Parents / Carers

I am very pleased to say that I have received lovely compliments this week of how well our year 1 children behaved at Windmill Hill City Farm and the ‘Handfuls of Harmony’ choir at Ashton Park School. It is great to receive these comments and praise about our children.

Huge well done and congratulations to year 6 for how they have tackled SATs this week.  All the children have persevered, tried their best and retained their sense of humour.  We are all really proud of them.

Learning this week Nursery children have been learning about hospital emergency journeys made by doctors and nurses.  They have also been listening to each other breathing and tying bandages on arms and legs.  Reception children have been reading ‘friendship’ stories and learning about time and clocks.  Children in year 1 have been making their own ‘waterworld’ and they visited the farm to take part in ‘pond dipping’.  Year 2 have been writing their own myths and legend stories about animals.  Children in year 3 have been making a movie about stop motion animations and have been making spider models and sculptures from newspaper.  Year 4 children have been writing about ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ from an orang-utan’s point of view.  Children in year 5 have been studying the life cycle of the frog and have been looking at shapes.  And of course year 6 children have been sitting their SATs this week and today are visiting the Lifeskills Centre.

Nepal Earthquake  Message from a parent, Jodie Hawkey -

I run a small charity, that works in close partnership with a local Nepalese organisation based in Kathmandu. Over the past 10 years we have helped fund small scale education and water projects. Following the two recent earthquakes, reports suggest that 5,000 schools have been devastated in the worst affected areas and we have been asked to focus on raising funds to rebuild one school in the affected area. There is a fundraising page here  100% of donations will go directly towards the rebuilding project.
