Dear Parents / Carers
This week the Nursery classes have been exploring ice and learning rhymes about penguins. It has seen the Reception classes continuing their learning about dinosaurs especially T-Rex. Year 1 have been counting in 2’s and looking at Anansi stories. Year 2 have been learning about ‘inverse’ and writing their own problems & resolutions for Mrs Armitage. Year 3 have learnt the formal method of column addition and been writing their own arguments about the Olympics. Year 4 have written timelines for different eras and placed fractions on a number line. In Year 5 children have been learning about electrical circuits and planning their own wishing tales and Year 6 have been making their own comics and reading ‘The Other Side of the Truth’.

Reception places 2016: The deadline for reception places is today, I hope that you have all applied. Please remember that a place in our nursery does not guarantee your child a place in our reception class.
Parent courses: ESOL for Schools and You. Do you want to improve your English? Come along on Wednesdays, from 1-3pm in the School House. There are a limited number of places left. There is a free crèche available for pre-school children. If you are interested please come along on Wednesday.
Are you interested in working or helping in schools? We will be running a number of courses over the rest of the school year to enable you to do this.
Monday 25 January - Children's first aid workshop - 9am -11 am in the School House.
22 February x 7 Mondays - Children's first Aid - 9am -11 am in the School House. Completion of this course will award you with a certificate which will help you if you are planning to work in schools. A 'Helping in Schools course' is planned for the summer term. At the end of this course you will be directed to further courses and placements. A free crèche will be available for pre-school children for all courses. If you are interested please contact the office.
We need your help! School Spring Census Day is on Thursday 21 January, please encourage your child to eat a school meal. The menu will be pizza, hotdogs, (vegetarian halal options), salad bar, jelly, ice-cream and fruit. Please return your choice slip and payment (if required) by Wednesday 20 January.
PTFA News: PTFA Social, Weds 20 January, 9am onwards at the City Farm cafe. Come along and have a catch up and a cuppa, it would be lovely to see as many faces as possible.
PTFA General Meeting, Friday 22 January, 9-10am, Upstairs Kitchen. The general meetings are a great opportunity to get involved with the school PTFA or just to find out what we are planning for the school year. We always appreciate people coming along to these meetings and would love to hear any suggestions or ideas that you have for possible events/fundraising ideas. Girl-Guides: Is your daughter between the ages of 5-7 years and wanting to have fun while learning? Rainbow Guides is the youngest section of the Girl-guiding organisation and gives girls opportunities to explore the outdoors, cooking, craft, overnights while learning life skills. We currently have places at the unit which meets in Totterdown. If you would like to learn more or register your daughter please email Maria on email@example.com.
