Dear Parents /Carers,
Learning this week: Reception classes have been learning to write silly sentences independently and been creating dinosaur silhouettes. Year 1 have been learning all about the life of Florence Nightingale! Year 2 have been learning how to divide numbers in Numeracy and in Literacy they have been writing a report about owls and becoming owl experts. Year 3 have been learning about long division and in Literacy they have been learning a rags to riches story about a girl who didn't have any toys. Year 4 have started their new Science topic: What Goes in, Must Come Out, and have been thinking about parts of the body and in Maths they been securing their understanding of standard multiplication methods, with games and mastery challenges. Year 5 been learning to investigate friction by using Newton meters to pull weights across different types of surface and learning to use train and bus timetables to answer questions. Year 6 have been developing confidence with applying written methods to decimal problems and working relative clauses into their writing.
A school team competed in a Hockey tournament this week, which was great fun. They will return to compete in the play offs next week.

Reminder: All adults must sign in at reception before coming into school. This is for health and safety reasons as we need to know who is in school at all times. Parents/carers should not be coming through school in the mornings or afternoons after dropping off their children or picking them up. If you need to go to the school office, have an appointment or are helping out in school please go round the outside of the building and in through the main reception entrance.
KS2 SATS Meeting: Please can we remind parents/carers that there is a meeting on Wednesday 22 March at 2.45pm in the School Hall to talk about Key Stage 2 SATS. Please come to the meeting for further information or if you have any questions.
Nursery Places: We have places available for a September 2017 start in our Nursery. Places are available on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning or a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday. If you or anyone you know would be interested in a place, please come to the office and fill out an application form. Your child must be born between 01/03/2013 and 31/08/2014.
Red Nose Day: Red Nose Day is on the Friday 24 March. We have been raising money by selling red noses on the gates in the afternoon. There are a few noses left and will be for sale on the top gate at pick up today. Children can also dress in red for a donation on Friday 24 March.
Photographs: Individual and sibling photographs were sent out with your child on Wednesday this week. If you would like to order any of the copies sent out please complete the order form, and return it with payment to the office by Wednesday 22 March at the latest.
Football: The school football team will be playing Hillcrest Primary School on Tuesday 21 March. Kick off will be 3.45pm on the pitch in the park. Come along and support your team! Further matches to be arranged.
PTFA News: PTFA Annual General Meeting, Monday 20 March at 3.30pm in the school hall. We need as many people as possible to attend this meeting so please do pop in after school if you can, new faces are very welcome. We will be saying goodbye to some of our committee members and appointing some new faces to the committee. A crèche and tea and coffee will be provided. We really appreciate all your support.
Easter Egg Hunt: The PTFA will be organising an Easter Egg Hunt in the playground at 3.30pm on Tuesday 4 April. All children & any younger siblings are welcome to join in. Cost is £1 per child and everyone gets a prize. Non-dairy prizes will also be available. We will need 10 volunteers from 3.20pm-4pm, to hand out the egg hunt sheets and give out the prizes. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help.
Donations for school in Somaliland: One of our SMSAs, Sabah Egah, is collecting donations for the Go’o primary school in Somaliland. We would be very grateful for donations of children’s clothes/shoes that your children have outgrown; books and pencils. Please give in to the school office. Thanks for your support.
