Dear Parents /Carers,

 

Learning this week: In Reception children have been learning Makaton and about ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. In Year 1 they have been learning about hours and minutes and telling the time. Year 2 have been learning about symmetry and writing about ‘The Magic Paint Brush’. In Year 3 they have been practising their times tables and continuing their topic work on the wildlife of the rainforests. Year 4 have been learning about fractions and writing their diary entries. Year 5 have been learning to measure and compare angles and writing and planning their own mystery stories. In Year 6 they have designed their own greenhouses and learned about the heart.

E-Safety Meeting for Parents/Carers: There will be a meeting at school on Tuesday 24 January at 6.00pm in the School Hall for parents and carers which will give guidance on how to keep your children safe on-line. All are welcome to attend. As we have had enough positive responses this meeting will definitely be going ahead.

 

Head Lice: We have had some reported cases of head lice in school. We would be grateful if parents and carers could check their child/ren’s hair and take appropriate action if they discover lice. Please visit the following website for advice and information:

PTFA News: PTFA Social, Friday 3rd February, 9.00am onwards at Windmill Hill City Farm Cafe. Please come along and join us for a cuppa, the more the merrier. Everyone is welcome, we would love to see some new faces.

 

We will shortly be looking to fill some positions on the PTFA committee. Watch this space for more information and if you feel that you can help and would like to be involved then please do get in touch with us at smr_ptfa@hotmail.co.uk

It is a great way to support the school and the children and every little bit of help is appreciated. You can contribute in as big or as small a way as you have time for.

 

There will be a cake and second hand uniform sale on Monday 6th February at 3.45pm in the School Hall. If you can volunteer some time to help with this event, please contact us. We would also be grateful for donations of cakes and biscuits, home-made or shop, brought in on the day of the sale. You can also drop donations of cakes and second hand uniform to the office.

Community News:

Bedminster Lantern Parade – Saturday 21st January – 4.00pm start on North Street: The rescheduled Lantern Parade is tomorrow. If your child was due to attend in December their lantern will be available to collect from the playground today.

 

Windmill Hill Community Orchard Wassail – Sunday 22nd January – 4.00-6.00pm: Join your neighbours for wassailing drinks, apple cakes, music and entertainment at St. John’s Burial Ground, Costwold Road, BS3.
