Dear Parents /Carers,

 

 

Reception classes this week have been learning about the rainforest and making rainforest birds.  Year 1 have been looking at number bonds and pond dipping.  Year 2 have made butterflies out of socks and watched the Fantastic Mr Fox DVD – they also worked incredibly hard during their SATS week!  Year 3 have been on an exciting trip to ‘Wild Place’.  Year 4 have been writing crime scene stories and making a game about the human body.  Year 5 have been learning about animal life cycles and created art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.  Year 6 have been planning budgets and mini enterprise schemes and going on a Life Skills trip at the Create Centre.

Breakfast Club:  Please note that the cost of Breakfast Club will rise to £1 per child per session after half term.  This is because of increasing costs of running the club.  I hope that you will appreciate this is still excellent value for money with 45 minutes of childcare and a hot breakfast for £1.

 

Sponsored Event for Child of Hope: Next week all the children will be taking part in a sponsored event for Child of Hope School, Uganda. They brought home a letter and sponsorship form a few weeks ago detailing what each class were going to do. Please can we ask for all money to be returned to school by Friday 10 June. Thank you for your support.

 

Sports Days:  Sports Days have been rescheduled to the following days:

Y123 – 14 June - 9.15-11.30am – in the Park (20 June if cancelled)

Y456 – 15 June – 9.15-11.30am – in the Park (22 June if cancelled)

EYFS – 16 June – 9.15-11.30am – in the Park (23 June if cancelled)

 

Muslim Parent/Carer Meeting: We need your help to plan our next Eid party! If you have any ideas or would like to help, please come along to our meeting on Thursday 26 May at 9am, in the School Library. We plan to hold our Eid party after school on July 14, weather permitting, in the playground.

 

 

Introduction to Helping in Schools Course for parents: Following on from the very popular Paediatric First Aid course we will be running an Introduction to Helping in Schools course for parents for 6 weeks, running Wednesdays 1-3pm in the School Kitchen, starting 8 June. A crèche is available for pre-school children. We have a limited number of places left. If you are interested please contact the office.

 

Guinea Pig News: A cake sale has been organised by the Guinea Pig Team to raise funds for Stevie and Squeakers, the school guinea pigs.  Please come to the playground after school on Tuesday 24 May at 3.30pm and buy some cake and meet the guinea pigs.  All remaining plants from the PTFA plant sale will also be on sale.

 

Thank you to everyone who has looked after the school guinea pigs for a weekend or holiday time this year.  If you would like to have them for a weekend next term please ring the office and let them know the date you can offer.  Thank you.

 

PTFA News:  Thank you to all who helped set up the Plant Sale yesterday in the playground, it was a great success.  Thank you also to all parents and carers who came to the general meeting this morning, we will have more news about the PTFA and the committee next week.

Meadow Flower Seeding. The slopes have now been seeded. Please could you keep dogs and children off the slopes in order to give the flowers a chance to grow. The volunteers have done a great job, the flowers are going to look beautiful!

Community News:  There will be some closures on the M32 between junctions 1 and 3 from 8pm on Friday June 10 until 6am on Monday June 13.  The closures will allow a new bridge to be put in place over the motorway for the Metro Bus bus-only junction and are required to carry out this work safely.
