Parking in Whitehouse Lane – Message from Bristol City Council and Avon and Somerset Police - ‘The Police and Bristol City Council have observed and have reported that obstructive parking on Whitehouse Lane, specifically along the pavement outside the ACES units and WEST HOUSE TRANSPORT is endangering the lives of the students leaving the school, as well as other pedestrians and cyclists. Whilst the situation had improved recently, more vehicles were observed on Wednesday 19th May, parking illegally and undertaking several illegal manoeuvres. The City Council and the Police are now obliged to take enforcement action against anyone parking illegally, we are urging parents and carers to consider changing their behaviour i.e. not driving to collect their children or parking further away and walking to drop off or collect. Other permanent measures to restrict movement and parking are being funded and will be in place soon. The highway code states: Rule 244 - You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs. Law GL(GP)A sect 15 Thank you for your help in this matter’.
Bedminster Residential Parking Zone – We know these will affect our families and parents’ parking. To have your say please go to http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/transport-and-streets/traffic-regulation-orders-tros#jump-link-4
PTFA News: -
Summer Fair, Sat 20th June. The plans for the summer fair are taking shape but we are in need of a lot more volunteers. Thank you so much to those of you that have volunteered to help so far. We have about 10 people and need around 60 to organise and run the day. Please, if you can give just a couple of hours of your time, it doesn't need to be the whole day; it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a message with the school office if you can help. We are also looking for donations. If you are having a clear out over the holiday then please bear us in mind. We will be collecting uniform, toys, books and sweets on the gates the week before the fair and these can also be handed to the office.
Art Day, Weds 24th June. A huge thank you to all of you who have volunteered so far to help with the Art Day. We are really in need of more volunteers both for the Art Day itself and to come in over the weeks before and do some small group work in the classroom, helping the children to make their structures. This will start during the second week of next term, the week beginning Mon 8th June. We really haven't had enough volunteers so if you can give up even just a couple of hours that would be a huge help, please contact email@example.com or talk to your class teacher.
Meadow Flower Slope Thank you to Simone and team for re-seeding the meadow flower slope at the front of the school last week. Please do not walk on the slope as new flowers are growing here.
Many Thanks, Jo, Katie, Lisa, Hannah and Egle (PTFA Committee)
