Dear Parents/Carers


As of tomorrow (1 July), the academisation process will be complete and we officially become part of DBAT as an Academy.


Once again the weather got in the way of plans for the Reception, Year 1, 2 and 3 Sports Day, we will try and hold it before the end of term and let you all know by text.


Congratulations to Sagal, Frank, Azaan, Joey, McKenzie and Hayden, Year 5 pupils who took part in Ashton Park Gifted and Talented Day on Tuesday this week at Ashton Park School.

Reminders: There is a secure drop box in the main entrance by the school office for you to leave any payments to school. This is a quick and easy way to drop off money, please make sure your envelope is marked with your child’s name and class and what the money is for.


International Week: Next week the whole school celebrates International Week. The children will be doing lots of interesting activities including outdoor cooking at Windmill Hill City Farm for Key Stage 2. A letter will go out today with more information about the International Week Curriculum Day and Eid Party next Thursday 6 July. Donations of food and drink for the Eid Party are welcome. Please bring these to the school office on Thursday morning.


Year 6 dates: A letter will be going out shortly regarding important dates for Year 6. They have a number of events coming up including the Mini Enterprise Sale (10 & 11 July), Year 6 performance (18 & 19 July), Leavers Disco (13 July) and meal out (12 July).


Leavers’ Disco: The Year 6 Leavers’ Disco will take place in the school hall on Thursday 13 July from 6.00 – 7.30pm. Tickets are £2 and will be on sale from the office on Monday 3 July. All Year 6 children need to be supervised by a named adult at the disco. Year 6 only please, no younger siblings allowed. If any adults are able to help out on the day to set up, decorate the hall and/or clear up at the end please get in touch with Alex Maxwell, Sarah Edwards or Julia Chapman via the school office – we need your help!


Reports: Your child will bring home their report on Tuesday 4 July. There will be the opportunity to talk to your class teacher if you want to at drop in sessions after school on Wednesday next week (5 July).


Governor News: On behalf of the whole school community, I would like to thank Helen Bone, Josh Thumim, Rhiannon Turner, Angela Hogg, Imogen Hunt and Natalie Barker for their combined total of 25 years of commitment, determination and hard work as governors. They have given up many hours, both publicly and behind the scenes, to support the school through sharing their skills, knowledge and experience voluntarily. We are very grateful, thank you. PTFA NEWS: Summer Fair: Join us at the Summer Fair tomorrow from 2 ‘til 4pm for lots of fun including bouncy castles, lucky dips, tin-can alley, sweet tombola, free craft room, story tent and the opportunity to buy used toys and books. We’re still looking for cake donations, which you can give to the school today or bring along with you tomorrow.


If your child would like to take part in the talent show please make sure you arrive at the fair as early as possible as all slots are awarded on a first come first served basis.


Community News – Message from Governors: As you may be aware Bristol City Council is currently consulting on proposals for making cuts to local services such as libraries and school crossing patrols.


One of the school crossing patrols the council are proposing to remove is ours on Whitehouse Lane.

Governors are concerned about the impact this will have on our children's safety and will be submitting our feedback to the council on behalf of the school. We also encourage all parents to complete the consultation survey at:


Redcliffe Resident Action Group are organising a number of events over the summer including:

Summer Holiday Club: Looking for a fun and out-doorsy holiday club? Windmill Hill City Farm are running the Wild Outdoors Club every Thursday of the holidays from 10am-12noon for ages 6 to 9years. £10 per session, book on and for more information go to
