30th September 2016

Dear Parents /Carers,

In school this week the Nursery children have done their first full day and have explored their new surroundings.  Reception children have been learning new sounds and about different types of family for their topic. Year 1 have been learning to tie their shoelaces and have been ‘climbing out of the learning pit’.  Year 2 have replanted their plants and in maths they have learned to use the greater than and less than signs.  Year 3 have been learning about column addition and investigating electricity in science.  Year 4 have been learning how to sew their names and making pouches in their metacognition lessons.  Year 5 have been pretending to be spies and enjoying their book ‘Stormbreaker’.  Year 6 have been stitching houses for Art on the Hill and have also been making rockets and seeing if they could fly to Mars.

Teachers and children will be updating their class pages on the website every Friday, do look at what they are all learning. http://www.stmaryredcliffeprimary.co.uk/class-pages/

Keeping your child safe online: The NSPCC has a great site https://www.net-aware.org.uk/ for checking out the age appropriateness of social networks and apps your children use.  Now also available as an app to download.  There is also lots of useful information on our website too. http://www.stmaryredcliffeprimary.co.uk/keeping-your-child-safe-online-and-on-social-media

Census Day Lunch: We need your help!  It is School Census Day next Thursday, 6 October which means we need as many children as possible to eat school dinner as our funding for the next year for dinners is decided with these numbers. Please can you encourage your child to eat a school meal on that day.  The menu will be sausage, beans and chips or cheese and tomato pizza or the salad bar.  Pudding will be jelly and ice cream, or a fruit bowl or yoghurt.  There is no need to order in advance.

Breakfast Club:  Can we please remind you that there is no supervision by staff before 8.00am.  Please do not drop your children off before this time as there is no-one to look after them.  You should be dropping them off at the Breakfast Club door and not letting them walk up the slope by themselves.

Lost:  Some Pokemon cards were found in the playground last Friday, please ask at the office if you have lost some.  Also a pink and purple girl’s watch has been handed in at the office.

Artwork: If your child did a design for the new bike arch in the top playground and would like their artwork back please come and ask in the office.  It will be here until Friday 7 October after which we will recycle it.
