Update from the Governing Body:

We are pleased to announce that the Department for Education has just confirmed that SMRP will be joining DBAT (the Diocese of Bristol Academy Trust). We are currently working towards a conversion date of 1st June but, realistically, we are unlikely to complete all of the required transfers (land ownership, staff contracts etc.) by this date. We will let you know the actual date as soon as we do.

Together with DBAT, we will be holding an information meeting for parents and carers during the week of 8th May, exact day and time(s) to follow.

When we become an academy, the new governing body will include 2 parent governors, the headteacher, the Vicar of St Mary Redcliffe, 1 staff governor, 2 foundation governors and 5 DBAT members. We will be holding an election for 2 new parent governors (either in Term 6 or at the beginning of Term 1) so please speak to Helen Bone, Josh Thumim or Julia Chapman if you have any questions about the role.

The vacancy for our new headteacher has been advertised with a closing date of April 3rd. The interview panel (made up of three DBAT members, Sam Mongon (Vice Chair of Governors) and Julia Chapman (Chair of Governors)) will be shortlisting on 6th April and the interviews will take place on 24th – 25th April.

Reminders and Requests:

- Can parents please label packed lunch boxes, there are a lot of similar lunch boxes in school and it causes confusion if we can’t identify who they belong to.

- There will be no afterschool clubs next week. New clubs will start the week beginning Tuesday 2 May.

Lost Property: There will be tables of lost property in the foyer on curriculum afternoon on Thursday 6 April from 2.30 to 3.20pm. If you are missing anything, please come along and see if any of your child’s belongings are here. Anything left over will be added to the donations going to the Go’o Primary School in Somaliland.

Term 4 Curriculum Afternoon: This will be held on Thursday 6 April from 2.30 to 3.20pm. A letter should come home in your child’s book bag today.

Nursery Places: We have places available for a September 2017 start in our Nursery. Places are available on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning or a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday. If you or anyone you know would be interested in a place, please come to the office and fill out an application form. Your child must be born between 01/03/2013 and 31/08/2014.

PTFA News: Easter Egg Hunt: Don't forget to join us for our Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday 4 April. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 3.30pm in the school playground and all children and their younger siblings are welcome to join in. Cost is £1 per child and everyone gets a prize. Non-dairy prizes will also be available. Many thanks, Mary, Wendy, Rose (PTFA Committee)

Donations for school in Somaliland: One of our SMSAs, Sabah Egah, is collecting donations for the Go’o Primary School in Somaliland. We would be very grateful for donations of children’s clothes/shoes that your children have outgrown; books and pencils. Please give in to the school office. Thanks for your support.
