World Book Day: It was great to see so many children and staff dressed up once again for the 20 year anniversary of World Book Day. Thank you to everyone for taking part and helping to raise £136.73 (so far!) for Book Aid International.

We received a letter of thanks and a copy of ‘A Child of Books’ by Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston for our library from the World Book Day Competition organisers for our wonderful display in the library.

We would like to say a huge thanks to the PTFA and helpers who helped to organise and run the 50p book sale and bedtime story events which were both a great success and helped make the day really enjoyable for all the children. Children in KS2 can look forward to a visit from author Sean Taylor which has been booked for next term.

£1 World Book Day Vouchers coming home today: These will be sent home with all children today. They can be used to pay for any of the 10 new exclusive £1 books created for World Book Day. To view the titles go to www.worldbookday.com/books The vouchers can also be used to give £1 off the price of any children’s books in participating shops. Local shops which stock the £1 books and where you can use the vouchers include; Waterstones in The Galleries, Sainsbury’s Castle Court and Tesco at Brislington. We hope the children use the vouchers to choose a new book.

Donations for school in Somaliland: One of our SMSAs, Sabah Egah, is collecting donations for the Go’o primary school in Somaliland. We would be very grateful for donations of children’s clothes/shoes that your children have outgrown; books and pencils. Please give in to the school office. Thanks for your support.

Staff Retirement: We are sorry to announce the retirement, at the end of April, of our amazing Site Manager, Mr Parkes. Mr Parkes has worked at St Mary Redcliffe for 10 years and is a valuable member of the staff team keeping our school secure and ensuring our safety on site. We wish him well for the future!

PTFA News: Seed Planting. We will be holding a seed planting session on Friday 17 March between 9.00am-12.00am in school. We would love as many parent/carer volunteers as possible to come along and help with this. You don't need to be green fingered, just enthusiastic and happy to pitch in. The seeds being planted are to be used for the plant sale on May 18. Come and join in the gardening!

World Book Day: A huge thank you to everyone who helped with world book day, to all the volunteers who offered their time and to the staff who made their classrooms look so fabulous and came along to read bedtime stories. Thank you to all the parents, carers and children who donated books and provided such wonderful costumes and came along to support these fantastic events. Another very successful World Book Day.

Annual General Meeting: A reminder that the PTFA AGM is being held on Monday 20 March at 3.30pm in the school hall. This is our most important meeting of the year and we need as many parents as possible to attend.
