Dear Parents /Carers,

 

In this week’s Celebration Assembly we heard about what the children have been learning this week.  Nursery welcomed parents to their ‘Frozen Party’.  The Reception classes have been learning about dinosaurs in a special workshop.  Year 1 classes have made spiders for the Anansi spider web workshop and also created part of a poem with no help.  Year 2 went to Ashton Park Secondary school and performed their Martial Art Dance and their Synchronised Swimming Dance.  Year 3 have had fun writing fable stories and Year 4 have written a news report for Cadbury World.  Year 5 went to Weston-Super-Mare and also invited parents to test their shaky hand testers.  Year 6 went to the floating harbour and also has SAT’s assessments.

Parents/Teacher Consultations:  Parent/teacher consultations will take place on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 February. Parents should receive a letter today explaining how to make a booking.  We will be booking online as in the past, if you have any difficulties or questions the staff in the office will be happy to help.

 

SchoolComms Direct payments:  The new system is now live, please consider registering as the new system will help simplify payment procedures for both parents and school.  If you did not get a letter or have any problems or questions please go to the office for assistance.

 

Medications: Can we please remind parents that school can only administer medicine that has been prescribed by a doctor and a form must be completed at the office to allow the First Aider to do this.  Children must not have medication of any kind in class or in their bags.

 

PTFA News:  Our General Meeting is on Wednesday 24 February at 9.00-10.00am in the library. Please come and find out about all the exciting events we are planning for the year. Tea and coffee will be provided. Our next social event will be on Wednesday 9 March from 9.00am at the Windmill Hill City Farm cafe. Join us for a chat and a cuppa, everyone is welcome, you are all members of the PTFA!  We need as many parents as possible to come to the PTFA Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 26 April at 3.30-4.30pm in the School Hall. This is where we vote in the committee and if there aren't enough parents we cannot have the vote. There will be childcare so please do come along after school, we would really appreciate your support. Happy half term from all of us!

Community News:  Ashton Park Sports Centre February Holiday Programme is now open. A copy of the programme will be available to your child via their book bags. Moose Club (http://moosekidsclub.btck.co.uk) are recruiting!  We are asking parents and carers if they can volunteer some time to join the current team of 3. If you would like to support and ensure the continuation of this great after school and holiday club, please contact Cath on 07722 140187.  We are also recruiting a new playworker to join our existing experienced team. WHaM Public Consultation: Come and find out about your local community planning group’s vision for the proposed 900 unit development. Wednesday 17 February – 7.30pm at Windmill Hill Community Association, Vivian Street.
