Dear Parents /Carers


Thank you to all those parents and carers who came to Curriculum Afternoon yesterday, it’s always lovely to see you in school enjoying your children’s learning.


Learning this week: Reception classes have been learning about the Easter story and counting backwards and forwards from 20. Year 1 have been learning about Jesus’ life and in maths have been quartering numbers. Year 2 have been making adverts and posters about Bong Tree Island and in maths have been dividing numbers. Year 3 have had lots of fun at their swimming lessons today. Year 4 have been making posters about steam locomotives and about the 24 hour clock. Year 5 have been making PowerPoint displays about Bristol artists and learning about fractions. Year 6 classes have been on camp all week in the Isle of Wight, those that stayed behind have been very helpful in other classes.

Reminders: After School Clubs: If your child received a place in an Afterschool Club please can the office remind you to return the form and pay for the club by 28 April. You can play online if you wish at or visit the school website and click on the School Gateway link.


Nursery Places: We have places available for a September 2017 start in our Nursery. Places are available on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning or a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday. If you or anyone you know would be interested in a place, please come to the office and fill out an application form. Your child must be born between 01/03/2013 and 31/08/2014.


PTFA News: Thanks to everyone who helped with and attended the Easter egg hunt, loads of fun was had and the total raised was £178.26.


Plant Sale update: Preparation for the May Plant Sale is well underway with Year 5 designing posters during the Easter holidays ready for our sale in Term 5. The sale will be held on Thursday May 18 in the school playground from 3.30pm onwards. Plants for sale will include veggies, flowers, herbs and wildflowers.


This year we’re raising money to help improve the gardens around the school and to develop a new quiet garden with sensory plants. Plant donations are always welcome, so please bear us in mind if you are gardening over the Easter break and have any left-over perennials.


We'd also like to thank everyone who showed interest in the PTFA committee roles. We are delighted to announce that Claire Berry will be Vice Chair, Rob Gillard will be Secretary, Jackie Annett will be in charge of the PTFA newsletter and Lynne Wolf and Adriana Meirelles will be in charge of publicity. As the parents and carers of the children of SMRP we welcome all ideas and feedback and appreciate your support. Watch this space for exciting fundraising activities!
