Welcome back to the last term of this academic year, we hope you had a restful half term.
Highlights at SMR this week: Reception have been learning about planets and aliens, Year 1 have been asking questions about Victorians. Year 2 have been solving problems in Maths and Year 3 have been reading ‘Don’t Open That Tomb!’ Year 4 have been practicing tennis in PE and Year 5 held an election in class. Year 6 have been making papier-Mache emoji’s and researching a holiday for their teacher!

Reminders: Smoking: School has a no-smoking policy on the premises, this includes e-cigarettes/vaping and applies to all school premises including the slope outside the main entrance and the playground.
48 Hour Rule: If your child has vomiting or diarrhoea they must stay home and are not allowed back into school until 48 hours (2 days) have passed since the last time they were sick or had diarrhoea. If your child comes back to school before this you will be called and expected to collect your child.
Breakfast Club: We have a Breakfast Club which is open to all. The club runs from 8.00am and serves breakfast until 8.25am. The club currently costs £1 per child which is payable either on the door or online. There is no need to book, just bring your child to the red door (beyond the main reception door), the doors close at 8.30am.
Sainsbury’s Vouchers: If you still have any Sainsbury’s vouchers lying around at home, could you please bring them into the office as we need to collate them and send them off in the next week.
Sports Days - Please note changes to previous newsletter: Sports Days will be held on Thursday 15 June for Reception, Year 1, 2 and 3 and Friday 16 June for Years 4, 5 and 6. These will be held between 9.30am – 12.00noon on the playing fields just outside of school in the Park and will be weather dependent. A letter was sent home this week with your child, please complete and return the form to the office if you are able to help out.
New Intake for Nursery and Reception September 2017: Nursery will be closed to children currently attending on Wednesday 21 June so that new starters can spend the day in school. There will be meetings for parents and carers of children starting in Reception in 2017 on Wednesday 21 June at 2.00pm and Thursday 22 June at 6.00pm.
PTFA News: We still need lots of parent/carer volunteers for the Summer Fair and Talent Show on July 1. We really need your help to ensure this exciting event can go ahead. Please contact us if you can help for an hour or two by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Missing Bike: A bike belonging to a child in Year 4 is missing. It is a White Carrera Cosmos kid’s bike, it has a red and black saddle and red handle bar grips. It is from Halfords and was last seen in the bike lockup in the top playground on Wednesday 7th June. If it has come home with your child by mistake please could it be returned to school. Thank you.
