9th September 2016

Dear Parents /Carers,

Welcome back, we hope you have had a lovely holiday.  We have had a wonderful start to the new term and I have been really impressed by the children’s attitude to learning.  A special welcome goes to all our new reception children who have started this week.

We would also like to welcome back Sarah Shreeves and Emma Aubrey who will be teaching 4 Apple and welcome Donna Payne, Edel Fletcher, Gemma Mulholland, Francesa Brown-Jackson and Anna Taylor in LSA roles and Katy Stokes who is with us from Superstars.

Chris Williams (who is our Family Link Worker) is out of school on jury duty at the moment.  If you have any concerns or issues please see Ms Payne.

Learning this week has seen Year 1 counting and making pirate ships. Year 2 have been learning about thankfulness, making postcards and reading lots. Year 3 have learned about ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes and gone on a hunt for parts in the cellar.  Year 4 have made numbers with the maths resources and have been reading ‘How to Train Your Dragon’.  Year 5 are reading ‘Stormbreaker’ and have learned how to keep liquid warm.  Year 6 have been learning about the space race and practicing their teamwork skills by make alien clothes.

We would like you to tell Ofsted what you think about our school.  Please follow this link:   You will also find a link on the home page of the school website.

Teachers and children will be updating their class pages on the website every Friday, do look at what they are all learning.

Keeping your child safe online: The NSPCC has a great site for checking out the age appropriateness of social networks and apps your children use.  Now also available as an app to download.  There is also lots of useful information on our website too.

Here is a link to a digital parenting magazine which may also be useful:  We will also email a copy of this to parents and carers.

All parents & carers in Y1, 2 and 3 should have received a letter from the NHS about flu vaccinations.

Art on The Hill, Saturday 1 October, School Playground: The preparation for this year’s Art on The Hill is well under way, the children have been working hard on their Marimekko projects for the exhibition. We will be having a whole school Art Day, as we did last year, on Wednesday Sept 21 to prepare and we would love as many parents/carers as possible to come in and help out. The exhibition itself is a really fun day. There will be a cafe and a cake stall and lots of workshops and activities for the children as well as the opportunity to see your child’s beautiful art work. Please come along and see how fantastic the children’s artwork is and, if you feel you can help, even just for an hour we would really appreciate it. Please contact us on

Many Thanks, Wendy, Mary, Hannah, Lisa, Katy and Rose (PTFA Committee)
