Dear Parents / Carers
Today the children looked fantastic dressed as their heroes and superheroes for Children In Need. Thank you for your donations, we will let you know next week how much was raised for the charity.
Learning this week Nursery children have been reading the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’. They have also made a turnip patch in their classroom and made and tasted turnip soup – surprisingly delicious! Reception children have been creating poppy artwork using different materials. Year 1 children have been reading the story of ‘But Martin’ and yesterday they made pirate lanterns for the lantern parade later in the year. Children in year 2 have been commemorating Remembrance Day by decorating poppies. Year 3 children have been learning to share and divide in numeracy. Year 4 children have been learning about 2 D shapes and angles and have been following instructions to make a torch. Children in year 5 have been learning how to order fractions and find the common denominator. Year 6 children have continued to learn about the iconic areas of Bristol and what makes Bristol special.

Applying for a place at a primary school If you have a child who was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 you must apply for a reception place before 15 January 2015. Bristol City Council prefers that you apply online at www.bristol.gov.uk/schooladmissions. Please remember that even if your child attends our Nursery you must still complete an application. Our Family Link Worker, Mr Williams will be happy to help you.
Reception Reading Meeting for parents will be held in the School Hall on Thursday 20 November at 2.30pm – 3.15pm. If your child is in Reception Elm or Lime and you want to learn more about their reading please come along.
Road Safety –The school has contacted the Council’s road safety team again regarding St Luke’s Road. They are going to look at how many people cross from Totterdown to the park (at the steps) and the traffic and decide if a School Crossing Patrol is needed there. They were very supportive.
Park keeper - I have met the person in charge of parks in South Bristol to express my concern about the possibility that we will lose our Park Keeper Ray. You too can make your feelings known to the council about the park keeper and lighting by doing the park survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/groundsmain
