Thank you to all parents and carers who visited yesterday afternoon for Curriculum Afternoon, we hope you enjoyed seeing what the children have been learning this term. If anyone has a feedback form that they would like to fill out, please bring them to the office.
Highlights at SMR this week: Year 1 enjoyed a trip to Windmill Hill City Farm for ‘pond-dipping’. Year 2 visited the church and Year 3 had a day in Nightingale Valley Woods for a day of forest school. A selection of children from years 5 and 6 went to the Forever Sports Festival at Ashton Gate and the Girls Football team also went to Ashton Gate on Tuesday for a tournament and played extremely well.

Reminders: Now that the weather is sunny, please can parents/carers make sure children come to school with sun-cream already applied, we are not able to apply it in school. Also please be reminded that children should bring a named sun-hat to school.
Handfuls of Harmony Summer Concert: Saturday 17 June, 6.00-7.00pm, St Paul’s Church, Southville, BS3 1DG. Our choir will be singing with a number of other primary schools in this lovely event. Tickets are available to buy from the school office.
Nursery Places: We have places available for a September 2017 start in our Nursery. Places are available on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning or a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday. If you or anyone you know would be interested in a place, please come to the office and fill out an application form. Your child must have been born between 01/03/2013 and 31/08/2014.
Sports Days: We are planning on holding Sports Days on Thursday 15 June for Key Stage 1 and Friday 16 June for Key Stage 2. These will be held at 9.30 – 11.30am on the playing fields just outside of school in the Park and will be weather dependent. More information will follow in due course. The date for Early Years is yet to be arranged.
New Intake for Nursery and Reception September 2017: Nursery will be closed to children currently attending on Wednesday 21 June so that new starters can spend the day in school. There will be meetings for parents and carers of children starting in Reception in 2017 on Wednesday 21 June at 2.00pm and Thursday 22 June at 6.00pm. Further information to follow.
PTFA News: ‘Thanks to everyone who helped make last Thursday's Plant Sale a huge success. We made a staggering £500 in one afternoon, setting a new record and encouraging nearly 200 children to spend time outside the classroom growing plants.
This week we joined in a school assembly to tell the children about our upcoming Summer Fair and Talent Show on Saturday July 1. We need 70 volunteers to make this exciting event happen, so please get in touch if you can spare an hour or two of your time. Send us a quick email at email@example.com.
Now that summer is here, we will be hosting flash lolly sales, so please keep an eye out for signs displayed around the playground.
