In science year 4 children have been testing air resistance through different size parachutes and on Monday their classroom had been attacked by a ‘Jorvik Ridgeback’! Free School Meals. If you think your child may be entitled to receive free schools meals please either come to the school office or go to www.bristol.gov.uk/fsm to apply. It is very important that anyone who is entitled applies for free school meals as the school receives extra funding towards the children’s education. All information that you provide is, of course, confidential. Please remember that even if you apply for free school meals your child does not have to have school dinners – you can continue to provide them with a packed lunch if you wish. This includes Reception, year 1 and year 2 children (even though they get a free lunch!)
Attendance: Look out for the latest attendance figures on our website:-
Caption Competition Congratulations to Miles 4 Poplar, Tehillah Reception Elm, Leon 4 Poplar and Katie 2 Apple for being the winning entries in our photo caption competition. They all received colour photos and pencil cases from Kenya. Well done everyone who took part – the standard of entries was very high and we appreciate all the effort you all made. Money raised will go to Child of Hope.
The system to support children with special educational needs and disabilities is changing The new Special Educational Needs and Disability system came into force in
September and means that your local authority and school has to make sure you
and your child are fully involved in decisions about how they support your child's
special educational needs and disabilities in future. They must listen carefully to what
you want and give you advice and support. The local authority has published its
'local offer' making clear which services are available for children with SEN locally.
You can find this at http://www.findabilitybristol.org.uk If you think these changes to the SEN and disability system applies to you, you can: Speak to your child's teacher or school SENDCo (Miss Radnor), contact your local authority's impartial information, advice and support service. You can find contact information for one of these here: http://www.parentpartnership.org.uk/find-your-pps/.,http://www.bristol.gov.uk or with the SEN section at the local authority on 0117 922 3700.
