Dear Parents /Carers


Learning this week: In Reception they have been learning about animals and their camouflage in the forest. Year 1 have been learning lots of facts about fish. Year 2 had a fantastic trip to Longleat and saw lots of amazing animals. Year 3 have continued reading ‘James and the Giant Peach’. In Year 4 they have been experimenting with different textures and converting pounds into pennies in Maths. Year 5 have been practising the short division method. Year 6 have been doing SATS revision tests and in Art they have been using sewing and fabric pens to create a picture.

Reminders & Notices:


Parent/Carer Meeting re: Academy Status: There will be a meeting for parents and carers on Tuesday 9 May for an update on the Academy status. Please come to the school hall at either 3.30pm or 6.30pm. There is a crèche available for the afternoon meeting, if you would like to book a place at the crèche please contact the school office. The meeting will last approximately half an hour.


Nursery Places: We have places available for a September 2017 start in our Nursery. Places are available on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning or a Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday. If you or anyone you know would be interested in a place, please come to the office and fill out an application form. Your child must have been born between 01/03/2013 and 31/08/2014.


Sports Days: We are planning on holding Sports Days on Thursday 15 June for Early Years and Key Stage 1 and Friday 16 June for Key Stage 2. These will be held at 9.30 – 11.30 on the playing fields just outside of school in the Park and will be weather dependent. More information will follow in due course.


PTFA News:

Parents and carers are welcome to join the PTFA Social on Friday May 12 at 9:15am at Mrs Brown’s Café.


Plant Sale: A huge congratulations to Year 5 – pupils have been working hard on their entries for the PTFA plant sale poster competition. The winners of the poster competition will be announced in school soon and the Plant Sale will be held on May 18.


Please look out for ice cream sales, which will be happening on sunny Fridays at school pick up from the top kitchen hatch.

Community News: Windmill Hill City Farm ‘Wild Outdoors Day’: Saturday 13 May 11am-5pm. £3 adults, kids go free. A great day is planned at the Farm, there will be nature activities, outdoor cooking, foraging, wood cutting, music, a bar and street food.


Windmill Hill Beavers: Windmill Hill Beavers are holding an open evening on Friday 12 May at 4.50- 5.50 at Windmill Hill Community Hall. This is open to children aged 6-8 years who might interested in joining Beavers, they have the RNLI visiting and will play some games. To get an idea of numbers it would be great if parents/carers could email to say they are attending to
