Mr Williams has been appointed in the new role of ‘Family Link Worker’ in school. His

King’! To cover the teachers’ preparation time this year we will be having a team of

specialists from ‘SuperStars’. The team have been in school this week meeting the

children. The specialists are Mr Rees (PE), Mrs Herbertson ( Art), Ms May (Drama) and

Mr Reid (Music).

Learning this week Children in year 1 have been learning about how we grow and

learn. Year 2 children have been practising their handwriting skills in their new books.

Children in year 3 have learnt how to make a light bulb work! Year 4 children have

been learning about poplar and sycamore trees. Year 5 children have been writing

some ‘warning’ stories. Year 6 children have watched an episode of Dr Who to launch

their ‘Out of this World’ topic!

Dinners The work on the kitchen has been finished and we can now provide free

dinners to every child who wants one in Reception, year 1 and year 2 in accordance

with government policy. Children in Nursery and years 3,4,5 and 6 still have to pay

£2.25 for each meal (£11.25 per week). We also have a ‘drop-in’ breakfast club from

8.00am (50p per day) where your child can have a hot breakfast – no need to book.

Attendance: Look out for the latest attendance figures on our website:-

Free School Meals. If you think your child (Nursery to Year 6) may be entitled to

receive free schools meals please either come to the school office or go to

www.bristol.gov.uk/fsm to apply. It is very important that anyone who is entitled applies

for free school meals as the school receives extra funding towards the children’s

education. All information that you provide is, of course, confidential. Please remember

that even if you apply for free school meals your child does not have to have school

dinners – you can continue to provide them with a packed lunch if you wish.
