Meet the Governors

Parent Governor opportunities, our school needs you!

Are you passionate about the school and its community? Do you want to be involved in improving the learning environment of our children? Do you have the skills and drive to make a positive contribution to the life of the school? If so, you should consider becoming a Parent Governor. The school has two Parent Governor vacancies for which nominations will be opening soon. This is your chance to make a difference.

The school’s governing body can make use of a wide range of skills and experience, no particular qualifications are required. We are looking to fill specific skills gaps in Estates Management, Human Resources, Safeguarding and Special Educational Needs but if you have experience in any other areas that might benefit the school, the parent governor role is a hugely rewarding investment of your time.

Governors have an important role in working with the school leadership team to plan the future of our school. Governors monitor pupil achievement and support teachers in providing the environment for our children to thrive. Governors make decisions about all aspects of school governance, including staff appointments and budgetary management.

Commitment and Responsibilities

If you are interested in becoming a Parent Governor but feel a little daunted by the responsibility you may be taking on, remember that full training will be available and you will always act as part of a team. We would like the members of the Governing Body to represent the diversity of our intake and your role would provide a vital means for parents and the community to get their views heard by the governing body as a whole.

As well as sharing the responsibilities mentioned above, governors attend six full governing body meetings a year and serve on a committee six times a year. All meetings are in the evening and are held at the school. You may also be asked to sit on appointment or other panels. All governors need to apply for a DBS enhanced disclosure and sign the Governing Body code of practice.

The nomination period will open on Monday 19th June and close at 12 noon on Friday 30th June 2017.
