Rainbow Reception

Welcome to RaInbow

Welcome to Rainbow Class. We are an energetic and creative team who love learning. We have a little help from our animal friends to show us how to be great learners.
The bee works with others as part of a team.
The tortoise keeps trying when things become difficult.
The unicorn is very creative and prepared to take risks in order to learn new things.
The spider makes learning connections.
The cat is curious to find out more and asks interesting questions.

This term we are continuing our topic about Journeys.
Our core value is Trust and we are developing our speaking and listening skills. Find out more by reading the Term 6 - 'Things You Need to Know Letter' which can be found below the photographs.
We began the week with a wonderful "magic show" where the children saw some amazing scientific experiments. They then worked in groups on different science tasks, they used magnets to move paper clip cars along a paper racing track, they explored what happens when you add cake colouring to milk and then add a jet of washing up liquid. The children made static electricity by rubbing balloons on their jumpers and then watching what happens when they put it on their hair.
This week the children worked in teams to draw and label all the forms of transport in the air,on land and in the water these are being displayed in the classroom and the children can add their own ideas as they learn more. We have been finding out about unusual and exciting transport such as snow boarding and using jets of water to fly up in the air.
The children made transport biscuits this week, and described how the texture of the mixture changed as we added different ingredients.
The children practised throwing the javelins and then they measured their throw using their footsteps.
We are looking forward to next week, on Monday we are going to Badminton Library to learn about the work of a Librarian. On Wednesday it is sports day for reception classes,we are going to the park where there will be different activities and the children will rotate around them in groups.
