Term 1

Wow have we really completed our first term in Nursery??  Yes we have!  Congratulations on making it through tiredness, coughs and colds.

We have been exploring magnificent, marvellous me this week; we looked at our incredible skeleton and have been learning some words like skull, ribs, pelvis, hips, spine and ankle.  We have been doing the Skeleton Dance too and looking at the story of Funny Bones.  You can find lots of episodes on youtube if you want to share at home.  Here are some links:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cfpk8QEhK1c  www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNtqhiAwXVI    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jpvuqj5nv6U  (Skeleton Dance).
Our pictures show some of the ways we have discovered skeletons and what our amazing bodies can do in different spaces and places.

We wish you all a happy and safe holiday and will see you on Wednesday 4th November at 1.00 pm.

Magnificent, Marvellous Me!

This week (8th October) we have been exploring times that are special to us - our birthdays.  We are really proud that we are 3 and going to be 4 years old.  We have celebrated Mr Bear's birthday by singing to him, making birthday crowns, cards and decorating cakes made of paper, playdough and on the lightbox.  We have decorated real cakes to bring home and eat today.  Please bring in your 20p to cover the cost of ingredients if you are able to, thank you.

Have a lovely Autumn weekend - see if you can collect some beautiful leaves which have fallen from the trees.

Remember to come to our curriculum afternoon next week - check your newsletter for details.  We will be showing you all the amazing things we play with during the day and you can have a look through the Learning Diaries.

This week (29 September) we have been exploring how busy our bodies and hands can be.  We are really good at picking things up, exploring what they do and being imaginative.  We have squidged playdough, painted with brushes, filled and emptied containers of water, sprinkled sand, looked for trains, and done lots and lots of running.  We are really proud of how the children have managed their first 2 and a half days, but phew, Mrs Knights and Mrs Moral need a cup of tea!  And everyone needs a really good sleep, ready for another busy week of learning and laughter.  Remember to come and visit Art on the Hill at school on Saturday - park entrance open.

We have had a fabulous start to Maple Nursery and we love all our children already!  We are brilliant at playing in our room and outside in our garden.  We tried lunch for the first time today and really enjoyed our Friday fish fingers and chips and beans.

This week we have ......

splashed in the water and blown bubbles

dug for dinosaurs in the sand

painted with brushes and our hands

climbed up and down the loft stairs

read lots of books

built really curvy train tracks

ridden the rocking horse

balanced on the bikes

hula hooped

built towers

tried the stepping logs

visited the big playground upstairs when we heard the long fire bell (it was just a practice)

...... and learned how to use our Nursery bathroom!

See you all next week. Mrs Knights and Mrs Moral xx

23rd Sept - this week we have managed our lunches really well - Friday's hot dinner was especially popular!  We are exploring our room and learning our different routines - we are always busy.  We even climbed lots of steps to our new decking play and learning area outside.  We loved it!  And did lots of running and shouting.

Next week we are trying our 2 and a half days so gets lots of sleep every night.
