Apologies for lack of entry last week, I have included some photos from our first ever Forest School and our trip today. Today we made forest hats and had hot chocolate for the first time.
We started off this week with a Harvest assembly led by Rev. Kat. We have learn lots of new sounds and we are now up to 'r'. (Have a look at the phonics video to see all the sounds we have learnt so far up to r)
In mats we have paractised matching numeral to quantity, counting backwards and continuing a repeating pattern.
Have a lovely week end and enjoy the photos
This week we started with a great 'Write Dance' session in the hall. The children pretended to be strange animals moving around in the mist. We then drew a squiggly pattern on paper, retracing lines we had already drawn with crayons. We then added features such as eyes and tails to our shapes to turn them into animals (Have a look at the videos below).
This week Mrs Cornelius has been working with small groups of children to make owls and bats for the autumn tree in our classroom. There is a photo of one hiding in the tree in our photos section below.
We learnt the sounds p, i, n, m and d and practised matching numeral to quantity ( I held up a number of fingers and the children found the corresponding numeral on their personal number fans.
We learnt about different types of families and did some further work on emotions.
Please check out our photos and videos below.
Have a lovely autumnal weekend
Write Dance in the Hall with Hawthorn Class
Write Dance - mark making
This week we had our first 'Write Dance' session, practised accurate counting skills and learnt the sounds s,a and t.
I have added a video of sound songs (which come in the order in which we teach them) on our class page .
We had a great art day on Wednesday and you can see our tree frieze hanging up in our classroom on one of the photos below. We will starting PE next week so please bring in a PE kit to hang on your child's peg. We have also sent home a letter about Forest School, which will be every Friday afternoon for Ash Class, starting from the 7th October.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Well done to Ash Class for completing their first week of school. Since starting school we have... conquered the dinner hall, met all of the children in our class, been on a tour of the school, painted leaves for our autumn tree, learnt a lunch time prayer song, practised a fire drill, shared several snack times together, listened to friends sharing special objects from home and played inside, outside and up on the top playground!
I am really impressed with how Ash class are settling in and I can tell we are going to have a great year together.
There are a few photos to look at in the slide show below, will make sure there are lots more added next week.
Have a great week end - looking forward to seeing you all on Monday
