Science Reflection Hunt

Friday 30th September 2016
This week, 4 Apple have been adding in Maths, writing descriptions in English and have taken on the different roles that you would find in a Celt roundhouse.

It is Art on the Hill tomorrow and we hope to see lots of you following the trail and visiting the exhibition from 11am-4pm. Thank you very much for all of entries to the Wallpaper Design Competition; they have now been entered into the competition.

We thought about our learning this week and said:

‘This week in Maths we have been learning how to use column addition.’ Eda

‘In Science, we have been thinking about reflection and went on a hunt to find reflective surfaces.’ Katie

‘We have been drawing dragons in Art then painting them using dip pens and ink.’ Josie

‘We played games based around metaphors, similes and personification to learn how to use them in our writing.’ Ikhlaas

Thank you!

This week we have really got into our book ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ and lots of children have jumped into the learning pit when rounding in Maths, and climbed out the other side.

‘This week we’ve read chapters 7-10 of How To Train Your Dragon. We have found out that Toothless, the dragon, has his first tooth!’ Ethan

‘In science, we have been learning about light and dark. We looked into a shoe box to try and see what the object inside was but we could not see anything! This is because there was no light. When we opened the box, it turned out to be a bright yellow ball.’ Ayman

‘We were making our art design for Art on the Hill. I enjoyed doing this.’ Erda

Maths - 6 Times Table Pairs Game

Friday 9th Spetember 2016

What a whirlwind week we have had! It’s been brilliant to get stuck into some fantastic discussions, role plays and activities that show your teachers just how amazing 4 Apple are.

Each week 4 Apple will be reporting back to you what we have been learning about and doing. So watch this space for weekly updates!

‘We have been reading How To Train Your Dragon.’ Katie

‘This week we have been acting out the story of Romulus and Remus.’ Mohamed

‘I now know that an imperative verb is a bossy doing word.’ Millie

‘Today we went outside for P.E. and looked inside the new changing rooms! Then we practised how to dribble a ball.’ Jalaya

‘Now we have a new Learning Pit display. This is for when we are learning something new; first you go down into the pit because you need to give it a go, keep trying and then you might succeed!’ Aryansh

‘Some of us bought in things that showed we belonged to a certain community for example, badges, bands, certificates. Then we showed them to the class as part of our R.E. lesson.’ Martha
