Term 2

Wow it's the last day of term - we can't believe how quickly this has arrived!

We had a lovely Carol Service at the Church; we are very impressed with the little legs that walked there and back!

The singing was beautiful.

We enjoyed a wonderful party in the afternoon.  Thank you for all the delicious food we shared.  We were very excited by a Special Visitor who gave us a fun present BEFORE Christmas .....  Check out the photo of the post-party sprawl!!

We wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas with hope and love for you all.  We say goodbye to Fionn and his family as they leave us - we will miss you.

See you on Wednesday 4th January when we have a fabulous First Day Back Treat ...... I'm not going to tell you what it is though!

Phew!  An amazing performance of "Away in a Manger" this morning!

We did recover from our tears - milk, water, fruit and a couple of episodes of Peppa Pig later .....

Thank you all for coming - I know you thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and that it was hard to walk away when your child was crying but we were all ok and we had a lovely time outside afterwards - here are the pictures to prove it!

next Wednesday Christmas Jumper afternoon

Thursday morning - Carol Service at the Church - we really need parent helpers to walk with us please.

Thursday afternoon - a special party.

Friday - end of term 2!

This is week 5!  We are busy practising a Christmas spectacular for you - ready for Friday 9th December 9.30 am, and in between all that we continue with our learning!  We have concentrated on shapes and exploring letters and envelopes - we are making a Christmas Post Office for parcels and letters.  We have decorated a Christmas tree, so come and have a look.

We wish you a jolly weekend!

This time the Little Red Hen left us some pizza dough made with her flour!  We explored making our own using a knife to spread tomato paste and a cheese grater to create stringy cheese!  The pizza just needs to be grilled or heated in the oven gently.  Enjoy!

We are finding shapes around us outside - so have a hunt for cylinders, cuboids, cubes and cones yourselves - come and tell us what you have spotted.

Sorry there are no photos because someone has very kindly tidied away the class camera so successfully that I couldn't find it!

Remember the winter fair on Saturday and have a safe and happy weekend.

An exciting week 3 when the Little Red Hen visited us with some flour!  We used it to make our own bread.  We acted out the story together and then with groups of friends.  Our favourite part seemed to be taking the wheat to the mill in the trolley!  We made paper plate hens using different media.

We also celebrated Children in Need Day on Friday by going spotty - we made edible Pudsey Bear tummies and spotted spots all around Nursery!  Thanks for dressing up, and all your donations.

End of week 2 and now we are well into November!  This week's learning is all about Divali - the Hindu Festival of Light.  We have explored making patterns with coloured chalk and rice, decorated a  toran (door hanging) for our doors, learned 'namaste' as a greeting and acted out the story of Rama and Sita - see the photo of us all making the monkey bridge to rescue Princess Sita.  We have made a clay diva and decorated it for our own candle.  We also made some special sweets called 'burfi' ..... but no photo exists of these as they have all been eaten!  We used condensed milk, icing sugar and coconut flakes but you could also use cream cheese mixed with a little icing sugar then add coconut flakes to taste.

While outside, someone has started to collect up the many, many, many leaves which are decorating our space!  I think it will be a long job ......

On Friday we made our own poppy to help us remember people who have died in wars.  We had a lovely Remembrance Service in School - see the Collective Worship and Collective Worship Team Pages.

We hope you are all feeling better soon - there are lots of runny noses, coughs and sneezes about!

Welcome back to Term 2 with longer nights and cooler days - but what beautiful foliage around us to ease us into the pared back Winter season.

This week we have concentrated on learning about Bonfire Night, so first we created lots of colourful things by painting, drawing and collaging different media.  We have looked at and listened to firework sounds - there are lots of wonderful displays on you tube - we liked the Fourth of July celebrations and a magnificent Japanese display - one of the biggest in the world.

We also acted out some of the Guy Fawkes Gunpowder Plot story as plotters and soldiers.  We decided we were pleased that Parliament wasn't blown up.

We have learned some Bonfire Night Safety Tips with Fireman Sam - you can search 'Fireman Sam Bonfire Night Safety' to find a brilliant set of clips on you tube.  There is also the Fire Service video with Welephant.

We have investigated lots of red things around us, played together and explored part of our new outdoor space.

This afternoon we made our own sparklers with lolly sticks and tinfoil ready for .... our Indoor Bonfire Party!  We drank hot chocolate and had a choice of chocolate, plain biscuits or rice cakes.  We loved it - look at our fabulous faces!!

It was so lovely to catch up with you all on Parents' Evenings - please remember to  complete your green feedback forms and hand them into the office, or bring them to Nursery next week.

Have a safe and sparkly weekend.
