  • On Monday we had maths day, we spent a lesson with each teacher doing lots of different shape activities all based around Chinese New Year.
  • In maths we have been learning to write numbers¬†in words up to10.
  • We played maths hangman and bingo to help us learn the spellings.
  • In literacy we have been looking at Micheal Rosen Poems. We were telling each other which poem we liked best and why and today we are performing part of a poem to the rest of the class.
  • In RE we were looking at the creation story and how Christians believe the world was created.
  • On Wednesday, Enzo's mum from Lime class came to teach us science. We had a challenge to build a boat using only tin foil. We had to measure how much cargo (marbles) the ship would carry. It was very exciting.

  • We have been writing our stories that we planned last week. We were focusing on capital letters and full stops.
  • In maths this week we have been finding ways to make totals. We made number bond monsters and we had to arrange the legs on the monster and see how many different ways we could find. We also used pegs to help us find all the ways to make 10.
  • In RE we look at solutions to solve problems in the world, we painted these solutions and some are up on our display.
  • In Music we have been working on call and response and practising our singing for our African song we have learnt.
  • In Science we made our own animal, guess who cards! We had to ask questions to find out the animal.

  • We designed our own boats for Anansi the spider so he could sail across the oceans.
  • On Wednesday we had out boat making morning and we then tested them to see if they would float and keep Anansi dry!
  • In maths we have been learning number bonds, we have been using 2 different colours to find all the different ways to make a number.
  • In ICT we have been learning how to use microphones.
  • In RE we were talking about things that destroy our special world. We used charcoal to illustrate these ideas.
  • In literacy we have been writing our own story based on Anansi and we choose our own characters. We have also been changing Anansi and the tug of war. In our new stories we have changed the test of strength from a tug of war to something else!

  • We have been writing questions for characters in the story.
  • We have been pretending to be from the newspaper and interviewing people using our microphones we have made!
  • We have been counting is 2.
  • We have been finding missing numbers in a sequence, forward and backward to 100!
  • We had a science day where we were Explorers! We had to find the hidden animals in the playground and sort them into mammals and birds.
  • We have been sorting animals by what they eat, we have learnt some new words (herbivore, Omnivore and carnivore.
  • In RE we were talking about man-made things that make our world so special.
  • In music this week we made our very own African instruments to go with our song!

  • We have been learning to tell the time. We can read o'clock and half past times.
  • We had an author called Jaz come in to speak to us about her book called ' Amazing Animals'.
  • We went to the theatre to see The Light Princess, it was amazing and very funny!
  • We performed an Anansi story in small groups.
  • We made our own microphones and used these to present our review of the Light Princess.
  • Today we started to learn our new TFW story called Anansi and the Tug of War.
  • In RE we were talking about why the world was special.
  • In music we learnt an African song and drew to the African music. Next week we are going to make instruments.¬†
