week beginning 4.1.16
This week in English we have been learning about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. We have written a diary entry in first person as Charlie Bucket.
In maths we have been learning how to solve division problems. This was a bit tricky but we are confident that we will improve.
Our topic is CHOCOLATE! The class were lucky enough to taste five types of chocolate of which we had to mark a score of zero to ten for taste, texture, what we liked and what we disliked.
Most of us hated the dark chocolate. The five types of chocolate were milk, dark, galaxy, white, Cadbury.
Week beginning 11th January 2016
This week in 4 Hazel, we have been learning about fractions, including how the numerator tells us how many parts you want from it and the denominator tells you how many EQUAL parts it is divided into.
In English we have been making our own character based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We created our own chapter for the book about how our character found their Golden Ticket!
In Topic we made own timeline to include different eras, including Aztecs, Egyptians, Celts, Romans, Tudors, Victorians, Stuarts and Vikings.
In Science we have been learning about solids, liquids and gas. Solids are teeny tiny molecules stuck together so the shape doesn't change. Liquid molecules can move all the time and fill the container they are in.
Week beginning 18.01.16
This week in 4 hazel. In maths we are doing fractions and equivalent fractions and mixed fractions .
In English we have been writing a letter to Charlie to persuade him on how to spend his 50p. Whether it be on him self or his family.
In Topic 5 Poplar came up to 4 Hazel and we designed sweets and chocolate for Willy Wonka's factory. This was in order to release Willy Wonka from Slugworth.
In Art we have been finishing our collages of hawk head parrots. This was super fun!
In PE we have been playing hockey. We have been practicing our dribbling and passing skills. Coach Alex played a game with us where we had to touch a tennis ball on a certain body part depending on what he shouted out.
The latest copy of Ben's News is out. "This month my favourite article is on how to see the planets align. The best time to see the planets align will be at 6:45am in a large, open area." - Ben
In Year 4 in English we have been writing a news report about when we went to Cadbury World for our trip.
In Maths on maths day our topic theme was the rainforest.
In Science this week we have been learning about line graphs. We got ice lollys and studied how many degrees change there was when placing them on a radiator and a cupboard, using a thermometer.
In Art we have been making and collaging Hawk Head Parrots and finishing them.
