Term 3

This week we have been learning about Jack and the Beanstalk.  The children have been very creative in thinking of alternative ways that Jack could make it up to castle.

We have also performed the Gingerbread Man to the children, which was great fun for all!

We have been learning about the difference between 2D and 3D shapes.  The children have amazed us with how quickly they have picked up 3D shape names and properties.  We have been watching clips from Danny MacAskill's Imaginate where he rides a bike through a playroom full of giant toys where the children have been naming all of the 3D shapes they can see (a bit hard to explain, best to look it up!).

We also had a lovely sunny afternoon at Forest School

Welcome back and Happy New Year everybody!

This term our topic is all about traditional stories. We are focussing on a different story each week, starting with the Gingerbread Man. Yesterday the EYFS staff put on a performance of this story for the Nursery and Reception children and we are now in the process of learning it off-by-heart. We will be encouraging children to use narrative phrases such as 'Once upon a time...' in order to tell and perform their own stories during the course of the term. Why not make up some stories together at home? Scribe down your child's story and send it in with a picture they have drawn and we will read them out to the class!

Forest School begins again next week and the 'sign-up sheet' will be available on the classroom door very shortly.

All the best
