Term 3 Week 1
Welcome back everyone, please read our medium term plan to see what is happening this term.
Attached to the class page is also our local trip letter for our Bristol Harbourside tour.
We can't believe it's coming up to term 3 already! This year is flying by.
In term 3, we will be learning about Bristol through time. The aim of this unit is to explore the historical roots of Bristol and how transport has shaped the city that we call home.
At the beginning of the term we will be learning about the 'age of sails' and how Bristol was once used as a major port of Britain. We will be going on a history tour of the harbourside so that the children can identify some of the oldest buildings in Bristol.
In week 4 we will be moving away from sails and we will be exploring the 'age of steam'. The children will investigate the time of Brunel and how his engineering pioneered huge changes around Bristol and the world. We will be taking a short trip to Bristol Temple Meads to explore the railway system and its impact on Bristol.
Finally, in term 4, we will finish our unit by investigating the 'age of flight'. More information will become available about this unit in term 4.
