Term 4

Monday 14th March-Friday 18th March

  • Today we ran a mile each because it is Sports Relief.
  • The picture from the art gallery was stolen over the weekend from our classroom. We have been investigating the crime and the police came to visit us and took evidence.
  • On Tuesday we had a man called Simon come into school to teach us about silk screen printing, we made our own sunflowers.
  • In maths we have been learning to recognise different money!
  • This term we have made our own books all about Van Gogh, we shared these with our parents on Thursday at Curriculum Afternoon.
  • We also made our own sunflowers using paper plates and different types of paper.
  • On Monday we made a timeline of Van Gogh's life.

  • We have been finding the difference between 2 numbers using numicon and cubes.
  • We have been learning 3D shapes and made our own using plasticine.
  • We have been writing biographies about Rosa Parks.
  • In art we painted our Van Gogh chairs.
  • We also have created our own Starry Night pictures and have then written instructions of how to draw it.
  • In PE we had another go using the apparatus, practising our travelling and balancing.
  • In PSHE we were talking about how to keep clean and healthy.

  • We have been learning to takeaway and find missing numbers in a number sentence.
  • In literacy we created our story maps about Van Gogh.
  • In art we drew Van Gogh's chair and we will paint these next week.
  • In RE we learnt a hymn all about creation, we then created our own version using our ideas.
  • In music we made sounds for spring and recorded them using pictures ready to perform next week.
  • For World Book Day we all dressed up as our favourite book character.

  • In maths we have been learning to find 1/2 and 1/4 of a shape and 1/2 of a number. We decorated pictures of pizzas using 1/2 and 1/4. Today we had to share the pirates treasure in half between 2 pirates!
  • In literacy we have learning our Talk for Writing ' The life of Vincent Van Gogh.' We have been acting out his life and created our own story maps to help learn about his life.
  • In art we drew and painted Van Gogh's sunflowers. We had to mix the colours to create different shades.
  • In PE we practised our different rolls. We are finding the teddy bear roll slightly easier now!
  • In music, we are creating sounds linked to the different seasons and today created a rhythm using these.
  • For PSHE we were talking about healthy choices again, we learnt a song called ' Keep fit, keep healthy'.

  • On Tuesday we received a parcel from The Arnolfini Art Gallery. We have been chosen to look after a painting for the term. We have to find out all about the artist and learn to draw and paint like it. We went home and researched to gather information. Yesterday we came to the conclusion that Van Gogh is the artist!
  • In maths we have been learning to weigh. We estimated then used the balance scales to weigh items. On Thursday we were ordering items by weight from heaviest to lightest using the balance scales.
  • In RE we learnt about the Hindu Creation Story.
  • In PE we were learning some new 'rolls', we learnt a teddy bear roll and a  dish roll as new ways to travel.
  • For our topic this term, we are making a book all about Van Gogh, we have written the first information page using bullet points.
  • Today we were  asking interesting questions to Van Gogh  to find out more about his life.
