Term 4

Week beginning 14th March

We were writing our poems, it was the last verse for From a railway carriage and we imagined the train was going past our school. We had to include metaphors and similes, personification, it had to have 8 lines, we needed to repeat here is and it needed to rhyme.

In computing we are designing our own webpage using HTML. We wrote about anything we liked and we learnt to put pictures on the page, add links, headings and paragraphs.

In Curriculum Afternoon we were designing our own trains, we named them and wrote about what it could do, we also had to label them.

In Maths some of us have been learning how to read timetables for trains and ferries. We learnt about telling the time to 5 minutes and converting between the 12 and 24 hour clock.

Week beginning 7th March

This week we have been looking at poetry. We have discussed what you enjoy about poems and the techniques poets use. We looked at the poem from a railway carriage, thinking about the structure and then performing it. The poem sounded like a train.

In Maths we have been looking at how to answer multi-step word problems. We discussed the steps we need to do and how to best understand the problem.

This week topic has been exciting! We have found out about the first steams trains and how that changed the country. We then walked to Temple Meads and got on a train. We saw many interesting things from the carriage window, we even spotted a silver dog with sunglasses and some whales!
