Term 5

Week beginning15.05.17

This week in 6 Dogwood in maths we did a murder mystery where we had to work out calculations to figure out the clue. We have also been auditioning for our year six leavers production: Super Stan.

On Tuesday we went on a trip to learn about life skills. We learnt about drugs and what to do in an emergency. We had to call 999 and what not to do when a phone is on the track. It was really fun!

This week in English we have been recapping our clauses and conjunction. We have also been planning our own explanation texts which we will be writing later today. . Mine was about how animals adapt-Leon

In topic we have been learning about the solar system and making Top Trumps cards about a planet we chose from our solar system.

Excitingly this week, we have been holding auditions for the Year 6 play. We have also made a start at learning the songs and choreography to accompany them. Personally, we think Year 6 sound pretty good.

This week in English we have been recapping our clauses and conjunction. We have also been planning our own explanation texts which we will be writing later today.

In maths we have been investigating perfect numbers and proving whether the Thinking Tom statement is true or not.

The most exciting thing that we have done this week is visit the create centre where we learnt some important life skills that will help us later on in life.

First week back and it's been stressful!

Guess what? We had a whole day of tests on the first day back! UNFAIR! But that what happens when you've got SATS in two weeks.

During maths, we have been focusing on fractions, decimals and percentages of amounts, as these were our weak points in the maths test at the start of the term. Also with fractions we have been reminding ourselves how to add, subtract, divide and multiply them.

In English, we've been planning and writing our own suspense story. We are looking forward to completing it next week.
