Mid term update
Our space topic is in full flow now. We have a great space library and we have learnt a lot about the different planets in our Solar System. This week has been themed around Wallace and Gromit's 'Grand Day Out' and learning about the moon. We are having a space themed art week next week where we will be exploring some exciting new techniques such as creating aliens from marbling inks. In maths we have continued to develop the skill of using a number line to count on and back in order to complete addition and subtraction calculations and we have been exploring number bonds using Numicon tiles. For example, how many ways can you make the number 12 using two tiles? How could this be recorded as an addition calculation? If we know that 5 + 7 = 12, what subtraction facts can we find?
Have a good weekend
Welcome back to our final term. We started our first week back by discovering the wreckage of an alien spacecraft in our outdoor area. Moxy the alien crash-landed on our planet and we have been designing spaceships to get him/her back home. We also been writing sets of rules to help him/her survive on Planet Earth (see photographs below).
In Maths we have been solving problems involving money.
We were really excited to be visited by Moses and Bex from our partner school in Uganda 'The Child of Hope School'
(Please find a video of the school below.) Moses and Bex taught the children how to carry baskets on their heads without holding on to them. We had great fun practising this skill in our classrooms!
Have a lovely weekend
