Our Link School
We are incredibly lucky as a school to be linked with a school in the Namatala slums, Mbale in Uganada called Child of Hope. During 2020 SMRP was awarded the International School Award to show its commitment to embedding international awareness and understanding.
This christian school was set up over 10 years ago by Becks and Moses Okotel. Lucy Swift, our previous deputy head moved out in 2019 as the Educational Advisor to support the school. Staff from SMRP have visited Uganda to share different practises and staff from Child of Hope have visited us at SMRP.
Child of Hope runs its own Nursery, Primary and Secondary School in the Namatala slum and supports some children at other local Secondary Schools and Vocational establishments.
Providing free education gives the children the opportunity to help lift their families and community out of poverty, it gives them aspirations for the future, it helps them develop leadership skills and guides them on the choices to make in order to achieve success both now and in the future.
Our curriculum at SMRP involves children learning about life in Uganda, children have the opportunity to exchange letters, ask questions and have live calls with Child of Hope to further their knowledge and challenge their misconceptions. Throughout the year children organise and lead fundraising events to directly support Child of Hope.
