Welcome to Year 4
We hope that you have had a fantastic summer holiday!
This term the children will be engaging in a variety of fun and engaging activities as well as developing new skills and understanding across the curriculum.
** PPA will be on Wednesday PM**
Every week, your child will choose a book from the class library as well as a levelled book from Oxford Reading Buddy. Please encourage your child to read at home and feel free to ask if you need any support. Please ensure that children bring in their books every day. Don’t forget to log onto Oxford Reading Buddy: https://www.oxfordreadingbuddy.com/uk If you have forgotten your username and password, please speak to a Year 4 adult.
OUR PE DAYS ARE Thursday (Indoor) AND FRIDAY (swimming)

On swimming days, children will need to bring their swimwear and a towel into school in a named bag. For boys this will include swimming trunks or shorts (not longer than knee length). Girls should wear a one-piece costume. Children with hair that is shoulder length or longer should bring a swim-hat or hair-band. Children may bring goggles if they use them normally and no earrings or jewelry should be worn in the pool.
We will be walking to and from the lessons and therefore children will need a raincoat and appropriate shoes.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and see me at the end of the school day or make an appointment to talk to me at another time.

Week 2- 13.9.21-17.9.21
Second week into term 1 meant full steam ahead for Year 4 this week. We visited Bristol Harbour as part of our local enquiry project- How has Bristol city centre change over time?
We compared a present day map and a map from 1885 and noticed the river has been built over to make roads/pathways. We also did a quiz about the local area e.g. what is there to do, how many shops etc. We discussed how there are more present day facilities than we could see on the map of 1885.
Week 3 w/b 20th September
This week started with our Year 4 Computing days. We had a day programming Ozobots - small robots that have sensors in them that allow them to follow a line. They can be programmed to do specific actions by using different colour codes. After learning how to use them we had various challenges to complete.
