Term 2

Christmas Jumper Day

It's Christmas Jumper Day in Key Stage 2 and we've had a great time learning about the advent and preparing for our Christmas Party this afternoon. Thank you to all of you for your continued support this year, stay safe over the holidays and we look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.

Ukulele Performance

Well done to the children of 5 Cherry who performed their arrangement of  'We Will Rock You' this week. The children worked really hard this term to learn the chords and master their performance and ukulele skills. We're rather proud of them and hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!

Week Two

This week, we have begun to build on our knowledge of the Solar System to prepare for a non-chronological report. We used drama to reenact the way the planets move around the sun in an orbit. We also welcomed the return of ukulele lessons with Ella; we have started our own arrangement of the song We Will Rock You.

Week One: Welcome back!

We hope you have all enjoyed a welcome break and are ready for a busy term! This week we kicked off our topic of Space with a giant mind map to share what we already know.

Half term is here; it’s time for a well-earned break!

It has been a fantastic start to the new school year and we are all really proud of the way the children have adjusted to the new routines of school life at SMRP. The first term back is always slightly longer than usual and there’s been lots for the children to take on board, so we know that they are looking forward to having a chance to relax and recharge before we head into Term 2. Please take some time over the break to use the Oxford Reading Buddy with your child and make the most of this wonderful learning resource.

In Term 2, we will be learning about Earth and Space and will be sharing the book ‘Cosmic’ by Frank Cotrell-Boyce with the children.

PPA will be on a Thursday afternoon and covered by Mrs.H and Mr.Germain.

PE days will remain on the same: Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing the correct kit, consisting of a white t-shirt, black shorts leggings or tracksuit bottoms and black daps or trainers. They will also need to wear their school jumper.

This year, we will be using Knowledge Organisers to share information about what the children will be learning each term in Science, History, Geography and RE. You can find out all about what we will be studying by reading a copy online at the top of this page.
