Term 2 - Marvellous Materials
In RE this week we have been learning about advent and how it is a time of waiting. We have also been looking at the parts of the advent wreath to see why is important to Christians. We discovered that there are usually four candles that are lit each Sunday before Christmas and they symbolise hope, love, peace and joy.
In English this week we have been learning about instructions. We followed a set of instructions to make our own pirate hats which some of us found a bit tricky, but we persevered until we got it right!
This week was our first dress rehearsal in front of the whole school. We were all a little bit nervous but excited to show everyone our fabulous singing and dancing. We can’t wait for the parents to see all our hard work next week.
In English this week, we have been learning how to write our own questions based on the story of The Three Little Pigs. We now know that questions end with a question mark and can start with words such as what, when, who, why, where and how. We also had an unexpected visitor in the Big Bad Wolf on Thursday and some of us were brave enough to ask him our questions.
We really enjoyed going into the park to look for signs of Autumn. We had lots of fun collecting sticks and leaves of different colours and shapes.
In PE we have been developing our football skills. We practised our dribbling and shooting skills.
This week we went to the park to observe signs of Autumn. Before we went, we made predictions as to what we might find. As predicted, we found twigs and leaves of different colours but we were also surprised with the stalks of different colours. We collected a lot of leaves, I am sure some made it home too, and grouped them together. The children were amazed with the sheer number of leaves in the park and how many more there were to come!
