Term 4

WC 4.4.22

Congratulations to Year 3 and Year 4 children for their wonderful performances of 'Peter Pan' this week. It was amazing! As well as 3 play performances we also had a trip to Forest School, where we made bird hides as part of our Design & Technology project (see photos below). In Science we learned about transportation in plants by setting up an experiment using sticks of celery and blue food colouring! We also performed the song 'Ain't no grave' on ukuleles, taking turns to alternate between the E minor and D major chords.

It's been a short, but busy term and the children have learnt loads!

Hope you all have a lovely Easter Break.

Friday 1st April

Here is an outline of our day

Activity 1: We looked at a PowerPoint from St Mary Redcliffe Church and studied the stain glass windows.

Activity 2: Why do Christians call the day Jesus died ‘Good Friday’? Class discussion.

Activity 3: As a class we watched a video to learn how Christians celebrate Easter. We split into groups to record key information.

Activity 4: We looked at the famous artwork ‘The deposition’ by Raphael. We recorded what we noticed about the image and how it made us feel.

Activity 5: Created an Easter card to send to the Marmalade Trust.

Today we went to the playground to build bird hides out of the play pod equipment. We worked in teams and tried to get at least one child to fit inside.

Here are some photos of what we built.

Dilys-In Forest School we were measuring around the trunk of trees which is called circumference. Isabella, Effie, and Aqua made a bug hotel using leaves, bark and some twigs.

Rimes-In Forest School we measured the length of leaves and we had a clipboard with a worksheet that showed us which things to measure and we had to record the length in m, cm or mm.

Effie-In maths we measured objects around the classroom and identified things that were bigger or smaller than a metre.

WC 7.3.22

We've had a fun-packed second week of term 4. It was lovely and sunny at Forest school on Wednesday and we learnt to tie clove hitches and square lashings...we also looked at the different parts of plants and made our own plant pictures using natural resources to demonstrate our understanding. We have been learning more songs for our end of term Peter Pan production. We have continued our work on multiplication and division in Maths and we have been learning about glossaries and other features of non-fiction texts in English. The children have started to design bird hides as part of their Design Technology project.

Please have a look at photos below.

Have a super weekend

Miss Stone

The children have had a great first week back with highlights including World Book Day, Forest School and Year 3 performing a 3-part harmony song to the rest of the school during our singing assembly.

Please see photos and videos below!

PE - Will take place on Tuesdays only this term (children to wear PE kits to school as usual).
