SS Great Britain Trip
Our trip yesterday was amazing! We got a little wet walking to the ship but it was worth it! David was our tour guide and he took us onto the top deck and into the first class dining room. Then we went down into steerage where it was really smelly and cramped and we saw rats!! After lunch we looked underneath the boat and visited 'Being Brunel'. We watched a video all about his life. Mohammed said it was the best trip ever!!
World Book Day
Today we dressed up as our favourite book
character. We had a special assembly to
launch world book day and participated in
many different activities.
- Design a bookmark competition
- Reading a book with a Talk Partner
- Drawing a picture of a book character
- Book sale PTFA
- Book at bedtime – All children were invited back to school in their PJ’s and slippers to enjoy some stories and a cup of hot chocolate!
- Performance poetry.
We read a range of poems by Michael Rosen. Then we chose a poem like, ‘jelly boots’ and ‘a cat’ and performed it using our own actions.
We are looking forward to Term 4 and our trip to the SS Great Britain. Our inspiration this term will come from a book 'Emily's surprising voyage' which tells the story of Emily's journey aboard the SS Great Britain. We will also be learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, his engineering genius and his impact on Bristol.
Please read regularly with your child and keep learning the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication times tables for both speed and accuracy. The next step is to learn the corresponding division facts.
4 x 5 = 20
5 x 4 = 20
20 ÷ 5 = 4
20 ÷ 4 = 5
