Term 5

13.05.22

We have had another  great week of learning this week. We were very excited to visit Wild Place for our school trip on Monday where we were able to see the animals and participate in a workshop about African animals. We loved looking for bears and Giraffes! In English this week we have been looking at letter writing. We wrote letters as the character of Lila from our story' Lila and the Secret of Rain' to tell her friend about the main events in the story.

In Science we have been learning to name different garden and wild plants.

In Forests school we make stick figures and build shelters for the to protect them from the scorching African sun.

Here is what some of the children have said about their learning this week:

“We have been to forest school we built a shelter for Ralph.” Aicha and Aaliya M

“We went to wild place and when we saw the animals. I really liked seeing the giraffe.”  Martha

“I liked watching the bears.” Lavelle

“I liked looking at the bears and the zebra,” Abel

“I liked the Giraffe because it had a long neck,” Hasan

“I liked hearing about the food giraffes eat and that they have to chew it 4 times. The colour of tongue is black because it has sunburn.” Lenny

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

The Year 1 Team.

Forest school sessions will take place on Friday afternoons from 2.30 for the last two weeks of term. If anyone is able to help, please let one of the team know!

Welcome back to Term 5

We have had an exciting week of learning to start the term.

In English we read our new story Lila and the secret of rain and looked at the characters emotions at different points in the story.

In topic we have enjoyed learning about the 7 continents and 5 oceans using different songs. We also began to look at the country of Malawi in Africa where Miss Shreeves lived.

A particular highlight of the week was our visit to Windmill city farm. We learnt about the different parts of a plant, tasted different herbs and plants growing and got to feed the animals.

We are going to Forest school every Friday afternoons and we would love for some parent helpers to join us.

Enjoy the bank holiday and we will see you all on Tuesday.
