Term 5 will be another busy and exciting term as the school looks at different aspects of 'Our Sustainable City'. In Year 3 we will be answering the question 'Where Does Our Rubbish Go?' As we are already passionate about reducing plastic waste and helping the environment we will begin to find out more about the life of a plastic bottle and help the community by doing a 'litter pick' in our lovely Victoria Park!
We will kick off the new term in Maths by continuing our study of fractions, before moving on to length and perimeter and finishing the term looking at weight. We will learn to measure and convert measurements between cm, mm and mm and metres and kilometres.
In writing we will be putting on our reporters hats as we write and record news reports and create newspapers. We will be writing in character to write letters and diary entries too.
As we are focussing on reducing waste, we will be doing lots of exciting activities using recycled/upcycled materials. Please keep an eye out for suitable things from your recycling box to make musical instruments (in week 5). We also want to keep our display only made from recycled materials so please bring in colourful boxes, Easter egg wrappers and other bits and bobs we could use for our display in Week 1.
We will also be organising our class fundraiser in Term 5 to raise money for the charity we are supporting which is Age UK.
What an exciting term we have ahead of us!
3 Juniper had a great time hosting an 'Afternoon Tea' to raise money for Age UK with a cake sale afterwards.
Thank you to all parents who brought cake, who came along and who helped out afterwards. It was lovely for the children to be able to do something for you and a great opportunity to socialise and sit in the sun.
Thank you for your generous donations, we raised a fantastic £69!
