Welcome to Term 6!
Our final term of the year is set to be very busy and exciting. We will be learning about Sudan and investigating different types of plants.
We will begin the term by finding out about the different parts of the plant and the function each part of the plants carries out. The children will also visit the park to identify and classify different types of plants, as well as planting their own seeds and observing how plants grow.
We will link this work to our English lessons by reading the book The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. We will also write a set of instructions explaining how to plant a seed.
During our topic on Sudan, we will be researching what animals can be found in the country as well as examining the climate and terrain. We will also sample some typical Sudanese food. In addition to this, we will use atlases to find Sudan on a map and draw our own maps of Sudan.
While in Maths, we will be exploring addition and subtraction to 20 using the part, part, whole method. We will also use grouping to work out multiplication and division calculations within the 2, 5 and 10 times table.
