Term 6 Topic : Big Earth, Little Me
Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
This week our learning has been based on the book 'Oliver's Vegetables'
This week we have based our learning on the book "Greta and the Giants" which is all about the work of Greta Thunberg. We recreated the story by making a big Greta, a forest and some animals who have lost their homes.
We had perfect weather for our sports day, the children were in mixed Ash and Elm teams and went round a circuit of activities including potato and spoon, relay and obstacle race.
We had 25 balls in our bucket which meant we has earnt another treat, so we made fresh juice ice lollies and ate them in the sun on the way to forest school.
On Friday we had a Life Skills day. We learnt how to be safe around the fire and children had the opportunity to cook marshmallows, pop corn, halloumi cheese and some red peppers. Children learnt what 3 elements we need to make fire and how we use water to put it out.
Home learning and back to school of Friday !
Thank you everyone for your home learning and sharing your ideas with us on class zoom sessions. We all missed being together but it was great you stayed in touch. We loved seeing you all back in school on Friday !
This week we have been learning about the book 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' written by Sarah Roberts illustrated by Hannah Peck.
We loved seeing your mini ocean experiments, posters, maths work and all the other creative things you were busy with at home.
This week's book is "One Plastic Bag."
This week we celebrated all our learning with a plastic free picnic. We made our own bags from recycled paper and then made our own sandwiches and wrapped them in greaseproof paper of course!
We ate them in a sunny spot in the park.
