Welcome back to Term 6!
It's our last term together before most of us move on to Reception. This term there will be some transition days for children moving on and the teachers will be meeting the new children coming to Nursery.
This term our Topic is 'Big World, Little Me.' We are going to learn about how we can all help to save the world by following the 3 R's: Reuse, Recycle, Reduce.
Even though we are only small we can all help and make a big difference.
We will be doing Forest School on Thursday mornings this term to give the children that attend at the end of the week a chance to have some fun in the Forest. If any parents would like to volunteer to come with us please let one of the Nursery staff know.
We have started our topic this week and are thinking about how we can re-use some of the rubbish we throw in Nursery. We have made some fantastic models from the junk we found in school.
We read some great books including 'Big World, Little Me' and 'Michael Recycle.'
For some of us we had our first visit to Forest School. We were so lucky with the sunny weather and we had great fun exploring the space and even did some mud painting!
We finished the week by celebrating World Book Day on Friday. We had to delay our celebrations from March due to Covid but we dressed up as our favourite book characters and shared our favourite books. We did lots of activities based on the book 'Stuck.'
World Book Day
We have continues in our efforts to save the earth this week. We have read a book called Greta and the Giants and learnt about Greta Thunberg. We made our own signs and held a protest to stop people cutting down the trees!
We also took part in Sports Day. We did so well doing the activities. Have a look at the pictures to see what events we did.
As usual we had fun at forest school. After hearing the story of Room on the Broom we made our own potions. See how the fizzed and bubbled!
We had such a busy week 6!
We read the book called One Plastic Bag, all about how women in the Gambia reused plastic bags and made them into other things.
We decided we would have a 'plastic free' picnic, so we made sandwiches with bread in a bio-degradable wrapping, cheese and butter wrapped in paper and jam in a jar.
We made our sandwiches ourselves and wrapped them in paper. We took them up to the park to eat them.
We have also been learning about how we have changed over the years and thinking about moving on to new classes.
. As part of our PSHE topic we drew around each other and then labelled all the body parts.
